9 Month Check Up

Carson had his 9 month check up today. Here are the stats:

Weight: 22 lbs (75th percentile)
Height: 30" (98th percentile)
Head: 97th percentile

His weight hasn't changed too much from the last check up, but he is getting taller. Next check up--12 months. I hear it's a doosy as far as shots go. I guess I have three months to prepare.

9 Months/Temple Square

Carson is 9 months old today!! This is kind of a Random Things post so I won't forget all of the cute things about him at this age. He is officially crawling and getting into everything he can get his hands on! He recently discovered the cat's water bowl and dry food while being left alone in a room for 5 seconds! Now that he's mobile, he loves to chase the cat around and "pet" her. I use the word "pet" lightly as he mostly pulls and pokes her. She eventually retreats under the bed for safety. He is quite vocal these days. He is very good at voicing his displeasure at a very high pitch. He says dada and mama and baba alot, but I'm not certain he knows what those words mean. He definitely associates meow and kitty kitty with the cat. He loves to look at books, especially those that have something to touch and feel. I hope he grows up loving to read. He loves to give hugs and get kisses, especially from his daddy. I think his scratchy beard tickles Carson's face. He seems to seek male approval when he does something right or fun. He always looks at Wally to make sure he noticed what neat thing was just done. My mom said he does the same thing with my stepdad. Carson is starting to get a bit of stranger danger when it comes to people he doesn't know. He loves to be around other kids. I can't wait until he is old enough for me to enroll him in a play group. I know he will just love playing with the other kids his age. We got him a walker as an early Christmas present. So far, he can go backwards really well. We're working on going forward! He loves to stand, ALL THE TIME. He is pulling himself up on whatever he can get his hands on. Sometimes it's the couch or his bouncy chair or my lap. Once he is up he is semi-stable, but still a bit wobbly on his feet. He likes to practice walking up and down the hallway. He has such a proud look on his face. He is an eater! He will try anything you put into his mouth and most of the time he likes it. It's fun to give him real people food. He definitely wants a bite of whatever it is that I'm eating. He'll stare you down until he gets a taste! This kid does funny things with his tongue. He can curl it and turn it any which way. He loves any kind of electronics--phones, remotes, computers, keyboards, etc. The very first time he crawled was to get at my phone. He's not too keen on the play phones, either. He likes the real thing! He is still sleeping in our bed at night. Wait, did I just admit that to everyone who reads this blog? We're working on a transition plan to get him into his crib, but its a slow going process. Most of the time I love having him sleeping next to me, but when Wally isn't working nights it gets a bit crowded with the three of us in a queen bed. Then the cat trys to join in and it's not a comfortable situation. He is fixaded on tags. Every night before he falls asleep he plays with the tag on his blanket. Oddly enough, it seems to soothe him and calm him down.

Carson has had a clogged tear duct in his left eye since he was born. It was suppossed to take care of itself with his first year, but it doesn't seem to be doing so. We'll probably end of taking him in this month to have a minor procedure to have it opened up. I hate the thought of having him under anesthesia, but it's something that needs to be done. I've been told it's quick and easy. We'll see the day of the procedure.

Last time I checked (about a week ago) he was 21.9 lbs and 29" long. We have his 9 month appt tomorrow for more shots and updated stats. He has been in the 75th percentile for the past few months now. I think he'll be in that same percentile when he is checked tomorrow.

We went to see the lights at Temple Square last night. So crowded! SO COLD!! He seemed to do ok, but I think I came down with a cold from the outing. A fun tradition we'll try to keep up each year (seeing the lights, not me getting a cold!). Here are some random pics from the past week. Sure do LOVE this little boy!!

Vegas Trip

We spent a few days last week on a mini vacation to Las Vegas. So much fun!! Carson loved all of the lights and activity happening around him. He was a pretty good little traveler. Of course, I took a bunch of pictures!

Carson was such a good boy on the drive down. Sadly, the musical book he is holding in this picture died on the way home. Too much use on the way there, I guess!

Weekend Stuff

Last Saturday we went with my dad and stepmom to the Tracy Aviary for their Halloween Hoot. All of the kids there were dressed up in their Halloween costumes. Carson was a hamburger. It was fun to see all of the different birds that make up the Aviary. I loved the owl exhibit. We had a really fun time!

We went up to Park City Saturday night to stay with Nat, Alan and the kids at a condo they got for the weekend. It had a hot tub on the deck! We ate dinner at our favorite Mexican place...best salsa bar ever! It's always nice to get away, even for just the night, to break up the monotony of every day life. Plus, I love hanging out with the Petersons!!

Sundays are very relaxed around our house. There are naps and football and food and more naps. Carson is right on board with it all! Even though Wally's Rams lost their fifth straight game in a row, we are still fans and still enjoyed our Sunday!!

Seven Months Old

Carson is 7 months old today!

He has been pure joy to have in our lives since day one. We are just over the moon with this kid! He has so much energy and such a sweet smile. He loves to laugh and definitely knows what he wants, when he wants it. He is becoming a bit more defiant these days when he doesn’t want something like his bottle, his binky, or a toy. If he is mad and you try to soothe him with something he doesn’t want, watch out. He will let you know! He is very much his mother’s son. He is specific about his needs and how they are met.

For the most part, he is a very happy, joyful baby. He loves to be around my sister’s kids. He giggles out loud when he sees my niece, Megan. He loves being around my dad’s dogs and our cat. We’re trying to teach him to be gentle with the pets, but he doesn’t quite understand yet. Luckily, my dad’s dogs are pretty laid back and let him get away with a lot. The cat, not so much!
Carson is still sleeping in our bed at night and I have to say, I really enjoy it. I love waking up in the morning seeing his sweet face. He likes to cuddle and fall asleep with a pillow or blanket against his face. We’ve tried several times putting him to sleep in his crib for the night to let him “cry it out”. Surprisingly enough, Wally has been the first one to go in and get him after the crying turns into screeching which turns into frantic screaming and choking. I’m no better. It kills me to hear him cry like that. For now, our bed is a family bed and we’re ok with that.

(We have a thumb-sucker on our hands!)

Carson had his first official cold a few weeks ago. I hated seeing him not feeling well. I think he is finally feeling better and back to normal. The runny nose, the congestion, the raspy voice, the lack of sleep for me…none of it was fun. So glad we are past it (for now)!

Carson is quite the roller. He hasn’t mastered the skill of crawling yet, although I think he is so close. For now, he rolls around to get what he wants. He loves musical toys with lights and buttons. He chews on EVERYTHING. If it’s in his hands, he’s chewing on it. He has two bottom teeth that are quite sharp. I think if I had been nursing, I would be stopping about now. We started giving him apple juice to help keep his bowels moving and he loved it, too much. He loved it to the point where he didn’t want his formula any more. He just wanted juice all the time. It was becoming a problem. Last weekend we weaned him off juice and he’s drinking his formula just fine now. He still gets an ounce of prune juice at night or he binds right up. It’s like a little treat for him at the end of the day. Who would have thought prune juice and treat would be used in the same sentence? One of his favorite things to do right now is bounce. He has a bouncy gym that he is crazy for. He has such a proud look on his face when he is jumping up and down. He has learned to turn around in it and access the toys in back and along the sides. It works great to keep him occupied while I get ready for work in the morning or to expel some excess energy before bedtime. One of our better finds and worth every penny!

This kid loves to eat. He will stare you down if he wants what you’re eating. He loves baby food from the jar and key lime yogurt. So far he’s tried bananas, peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, macaroni and beef puree, apples and raspberries, and mixed vegetables. He loves them all! He’s had a small taste of ice cream and let’s just say… he’s going to be a fan. I tried giving him a smashed up banana and he spit it right out. I think the texture threw him off. We’ll try again later down the road.

Carson loooooooves to go for walks in his stroller. I’m so glad that the weather is cooling off a bit so we can go outside more often. A leisurely walk in 90 degree weather isn’t fun for me or him. Sometimes, we go to the mall and just circle around from end to end. He’s my little shopping buddy. He loves looking at himself in the mirror in the changing rooms. I’m sure I sound like a cuckoo bird in there, “Who’s the cutest boy around?”, “Does this shirt look cute on mama?”, “ Who’s being such a good boy?”. His answer to all of my questions? Babababababa (which I take as yes, that shirt does look cute on you!).

He is quite vocal these days. Whether it is laughing, crying, babbling…he is always making some sort of noise. Wally was holding him in the front room the other night, trying to get him to stop fussing. He was tired, but didn’t want to settle down. I could hear what was happening from the bedroom and decided to go give daddy a break and see if I could help. As soon as he saw me walk into the room, in the middle of his crying, he said MOM. No kidding. Wally heard it clear as day. My heart fluttered:)

Six Month Check Up

Carson had his six month check-up today. Here are his stats:

Weight: 19.1 lbs (75th percentile)
Height: 27 inches (75th percentile)
Head: 18.5 cm (off the charts!)

I was a little surprised at his weight this time around. I thought for sure he was somewhere in the twenties. He has only gained 1.5 lbs since his last visit at four months old. My back and knees are telling me a different story! His height stayed the same, even though he seems so much longer to me! He had to get four shots, all of which he was VERY MAD about. The patients in the waiting room could hear the screaming it was so loud. He promptly passed out in the car after from exhaustion. Overall, he is growing as he should be. He has been fortunate to be a very healthy baby from day one. Hopefully, that good health continues through the winter months.

Carson does pretty well at sitting up on his own now. He loves playing with his toys and anything he can fit into his mouth! He especially loves musical toys and those that make noise. He is rolling onto his stomach at light speed, but hasn't quite figured out how to get back over just yet. He loves the kitty and laughs whenever she walks by or gets close to where he is sitting.

We are excited to try all of the new approved foods now that he is six months old. I will be surprised to see what he turns away, if anything. So far, he has loved everything we have put in his mouth!

So, for now, we still squish him into his little blue tub every night and it seems to work. He loves to chew on his orange hippo , not the white one or the green one, the orange one. The Reproductive Clinic at the Univeristy of Utah had a picnic for all of the patients and their families. We are so grateful to them for helping us bring Carson into our world! They do amazing things when you feel like their isn't much hope. There were ALOT of twins at the picnic and even a set of quadruplots! We were happy to have our "singleton" as they call him:) It was fun to see the doctors and nurses that spent so much time making sure our dream of having a baby came true. It was also fun to talk to other couples who had gone through a similar experience as we had and shared the same outcome. We will definitely continue to go each year as Carson grows older. He will know the important role they played in getting him here.

Carson had his first experience with camping over the weekend. He did surprisingly well! He loved being outdoors and going for walks in his stroller. He also loved all of the ohs and ahs he got from Wally's friends. He tends to be the center of attention wherever he goes! It was a lot of work packing for just one night! Overall, we had a good time, although I could have done without the bugs.:)

Apparently, I forgot I brought my camera because we only ended up with one real camping picture. One of Wally's friends was dressed very similar to Carson, so they took a picture and sent it to us. I will be better about picture taking next time around, for sure!

Jordan Pines

We recently drove up the canyon to Jordan Pines to escape the heat. It was so pretty! We attempted to take some family pictures, but the baby didn't want to look at anything but the ground:) We did have a good time, though. Whenever I go up to the mountains, I always find myself wondering why I don't go more often. It really is a hidden gem in our own backyard.

Four Month Check-Up

Carson had his four month check-up today. Here are his stats:

Weight: 17.5 lbs
Length: 27 inches long
Head: 17.5

He is in the 95th percentile, except for his head. That is in the 90 percentile. Poor little guy got three shots in his legs today:( He was quite the trooper, considering. Nothing a big bottle couldn’t fix!

We are excited to be starting solids! Rice cereal, sweet potatoes, and squash, oh my! I will definitely be posting pictures of this new adventure. I can just imagine the amount of food that will end up in his hair and all over his face instead of in his mouth!

Happy Birthday to my sweet husband! One year away from the BIG Five O! I think the party planning for that birthday has already started:). Instead of dreading getting older, Wally seems happy to celebrate each passing year. This past year has been an eventful one! Wally became a dad for the 6th time when Carson was born. He now says he has his Brady Bunch – three girls and three boys. He is such a great dad to all of his kids and he has a special bond with the newest little guy. I love watching him interact with Carson and just love this baby to pieces.

He recently got a new job that keeps him working in town rather than on the road—we love that!! It’s so nice to spend more than four days a month with my spouse!

This is my second week back to work since having Carson. Let's just say, I live for the weekends when I get to spend all day with him. I am not one of those moms who looked forward to going back to work for the "adult interaction". I have found I would much rather interact with my baby. I hate leaving him and missing out on all of the cute things he does during the day. Luckily, my wonderful family takes care of him and loves him just as much as I do.

He is such a happy baby and gives me the cutest smiles and laughs while I get ready for work in the morning. He is getting to be so strong. This morning he completely ripped down three rings that were hanging over his playmat. I have a feeling the giraffe and monkey are next on his list!

My first official Mother's Day--yeah!! Natalie hosted a dinner at her house so none of the mother's had to cook:) This Mother's Day was special for so many reasons. It was my first celebration as the mother of sweet Carson. It was also a day to celebrate my own mother and her improving health. We are so grateful she is on the mend!

I LOVE, LOVE being a mom to this little boy. Although challenging and sometimes exhausting, I wouldn't change any of it for anything! At times, it seems like a dream. Carson is the answer to my wish of all wishes.

Carson had his 2 month checkup today. He got his first round of shots:( He was quite the little trooper, although his face did turn a few shades of purple. He weighs in at 14 lbs 2 oz and is 24 inches long. To no one's surprise, he is in the 95th percentile when it comes to weight, height and his head. They said he is the size of the average 4 month old! Clearly, he is healthy and growing strong!!! I think we better start saving now for our future grocery bills:)

Carson was blessed on Sunday, May 1 by his Uncle Alan. We are so appreciative to Alan for giving him such a wonderful blessing. We had so many family and friends show up to support us on this special day! We are especially grateful that my mom was feeling well enough to be there. She has had a rough go of it lately. Thanks to all of those who came out to see our sweet baby boy's blessing. Carson is 7 weeks old today. He weighs 12 lbs 8 oz and is 22 1/2 inches long. We took a trip to the mall yesterday to see the Easter bunny. Luckily, he is young enough that he isn't afraid to sit on the bunny's lap for a picture. I, myself, thought the bunny was a little creepy:)

Finally, one week after my due date, our little man arrived. Carson Wallace Powell was born on Friday, March 4 at 12:10 am, weighing in at a whopping 8 lbs 9 oz and 20 inches long. He is a solid boy! We love him so, so much and can't get enough of his little face! He was born with a full head of blonde hair which was quite a surprise to me. I'm so used to bald babies in our family. He was the talk of the nursery because of his hair. Every time a there was a shift change, the new nurse commented on his blonde locks. Someone even called him the baby of the year! I'm sure they say that to all of the new parents, but we agree he is pretty special. We couldn't feel more blessed with this sweet little boy!

We have been home for almost a week now and things are going well. I am pretty tired trying to keep up with the little guy, but with some much appreciated help from his aunt Natalie, we are surviving! We are trying to get into a rythym and figure out needs. This kid can fill diaper like no other! From day one, he has been a pooping machine:) He is a pretty good sleeper as long as he's fed. He LOVES to eat!!

My Work Shower

The ladies at work threw me the best baby shower! We met at Marie Calendars for lunch which was so yummy! One of the ladies made my a cake made out of diapers and all kinds of baby things (rattles, binkies, washcloths, diaper pins, etc.) I got so many thoughtful gifts, many of which were homemade. We had such a fun time! Thanks to everyone who came and for the generous gifts!!

My mom and sister threw me the best baby shower!! So many people came and gave such thoughtful gifts. I think Carson has everything he needs now to come into this world. It was fun to see all of the people from our old neighborhood, my cousins and aunts, my mom's sweet friends, and of course my close family. My stepmom was such a help keeping track of the gifts and doing so much more. My sister made my FAVORITE salad ever and brought some very yummy desserts. She and my step dad also shuttled a lot of the guests when we ran out of parking. I couldn't have asked for a better day. Thanks to all of you who came to support me and for all of the generous gifts. I'm so appreciative!

Happy New Year!

I can hardly believe the baby will be here next month! I hit 32 weeks last Friday. I’m feeling pretty big these days, not too uncomfortable, just BIG. The little guy is very active and moving around ALOT. I finally finished putting the nursery together with just a few pictures left to hang. It turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself! Here are some stats from my latest doctor’s appt:

Blood Pressure: 120/74
Belly Measurement: 31
Weight Gain so far: 21 lbs
Overall: Feeling good!

We had such a wonderful Christmas this year! My best presents were 1)having Wally at home and 2)having Carson in my belly. What more could a girl ask for? Oh, I know--a camera that consistently takes good pictures! It was so hit and miss and very frustrating when trying to capture a decent picture. With a baby on the way, a new camera is definitely being worked into the budget!

We started out spending Christmas Eve with Wally's family at his mom's house.

We opened gifts on Christmas morning at my sister's house.

Megan decorated her own Christmas tree this year!

Next, we headed up to my dad's house for Christmas breakfast.

The kids got an Xbox 360 with Kinect!

Christmas at Mom's

We had a Christmas party at my mom’s house on Sunday with my mom and Paul, Natalie’s family and Sharalyn. Unfortunately, Grandpa McKell was sick so he couldn’t make it up. Wally was still on the road, so he wasn’t able to make it either. We had a really yummy dinner (best lasagna ever!) and exchanged gifts. Too bad the gift we gave to Paul he already had! That has never happened to me before. I can’t wait until next year when Carson is here to attend the party!

I had to take some of the pictures off my mom’s blog to post here because most of mine didn’t turn out very well. You can tell the pictures that are from my camera—they are kind of fuzzy and have a weird tint to them. Maybe I should add a new digital camera to my Christmas list this year!

Frost Family Christmas Party

We had our annual Frost Family Christmas Party over the weekend. I love getting together during the holidays with my cousins. We only see them a couple of times a year and it’s always so much fun to catch up with everyone. Santa makes an appearance each year so we can all make sure he knows what we want for Christmas. I definitely got my Christmas wish from last year! My pictures from the party this year turned out terrible! My camera batteries were running low, so there was a delay every time I went to take a photo. I’ll post them for all to see because other than one or two lucky shots, they really are that bad!

29 Weeks

11 weeks to go! Still feeling pretty well and having very few complaints. I’ve been to two of six scheduled childbirth classes and what an eye opener they have been! Some of the general stuff we’ve gone over I knew from being around when my sister had babies, but there are a lot of little details that I am learning about for the first time. We have watched four different labor and delivery videos and all I can say is THANK GOODNESS FOR MEDICATION!! Hats off to anyone who has gone through it naturally, but I am under no illusion that I would be able to handle that amount of pain for that amount of time. Let’s be honest, I’ve never been one to tolerate pain well, so this situation will be no different, I’m sure!

28 Weeks

Welcome to the third trimester! With only 12 weeks to go, I am starting to get a little nervous about all that still needs to be done. We have the crib put together, but the dresser/changing table is still in the box. Even with the crib put together, it is still sitting in our front room. I need to do some juggling of other furniture to clear out room for the nursery. I need to find all of the accessories (lamps, picture frames, stuff for the walls, etc.) to finish it off, but my mom and I did find the perfect picture to go above his crib:

With Wally being out of town until December 23rd, the number of tasks to do related to the baby coming, along with all of the holiday shopping that needs to be done is making things seems a bit overwhelming right now. Little by little, day by day!

The little man finally cooperated and gave us some great 4D shots of his face at Fetal Foto last night.

I so love this face already!

I’m excited to start child birthing classes tonight that go on for six weeks. I’m hoping to get a better understanding of what I’m in for come the big day. I figure the more information I have the better off I’ll be when it’s time for delivery. What is my birth plan you may ask? To be in as little pain as possible! Pain medication will be my bff that day:)

I didn’t quite make my goal of gaining 4 lbs a month this past month and by not making my goal I mean I completely went over! Let’s just say if I don’t gain too much weight next month I won’t be very worried!

26 Weeks

Today marks 26 weeks! I’m still amazed at how quickly this pregnancy is passing by. I have a feeling that the next month or so will fly by in a flash with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner. I can’t help but be so thankful, especially at this time of year, for this little blessing we’ve been given. How fortunate we are to have such a supportive family as well as access to such amazing resources. Never do I take for granted the efforts it took from a large circle of people to get to where we are today. We are so, so blessed!!

I had a bit of a scare today. I’ve been noticing over the past week that the little guy’s daily movements haven’t been as frequent as they used to be. I just wasn’t feeling the kicks and jabs that I had been in weeks past. I wasn’t too concerned, but after not feeling anything at all for two days I decided to call my doctor this morning and he told me to come in right away. If I wasn’t concerned before, I was a little now. Luckily, he did an ultrasound and said the baby is doing just fine (heartbeat ok, no cord around the neck, etc.), but he is bundled up in a ball on my top left side which may be why I haven’t been feeling a lot of movement lately. Actually, he’s been bunched up that way for a few weeks now. He has all of this room to move around right now and he chooses to utilize about 1/3 of the space available. Silly boy! I’m just glad he’s OK:)

25 Weeks

25 weeks down, 15 weeks to go! Have I mentioned how much I love, love, love being pregnant? I can’t believe I am just two weeks away from my third trimester. Crazy! The last few months have gone by so fast, probably because they have been pretty uneventful as far as worries and concerns go. I ordered a heartbeat monitor for home use—best decision I have made. Calms me and reassures me that all is still ok in there with the little man!

I was hoping to have some more ultrasound pics to post from our last visit, but Carson was not cooperating and would only give us one shot, proving over and over again that he is indeed a boy! He was basically folded in half with his knees up against his little face, obstructing any cute facial views we were hoping to see. We may not get a good look at him until he is born and he can’t hide anymore!

I have been experiencing some of what I’ve heard called “pregnancy brain”. I have been so very forgetful of things I normally would not be forgetting. Case in point…I am BIG on birthday posts on my blog. I enjoy doing them and try to keep up with all of the immediate family member’s birthdays. Well, pregnancy brain caused me to completely forget to post on both my mom and dad’s birthdays. Two of the most important people in my life and I totally spaced their birthday posts. They are so much a part of why we were able to get pregnant and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Another two weeks down and another bathroom shot! I should have some new ultrasound pictures of Carson next week to post. I’ve read that he is now the length of a summer squash or a banana (love the fruit references!) He has also hit the 1 lb mark:) I’m feeling pretty good these days. I’ve been experiencing some “growing pains”lately, but otherwise feeling energetic and thrilled to be pregnant. We have been having so much fun shopping for all of the baby stuff-clothing, nursery furniture, bedding, etc. Even Wally has jumped on the shopping bandwagon. I’ll post a picture of the nursery when it’s completed. It’s the number one task on our to-do list when Wally gets back in town next week. 18 weeks to go!

I’m amazed at some of the places where Wally delivers loads. Once again, he had to deliver inside a cave! Not a lot of room to maneuver around for proper backing and such. He sent these pictures, which I’m sure understated the ability it took to get in, out, and around this cave. You can see how dark it is, how low the ceiling sits, and how tight the corners are. Boy has skills!

20 Weeks

Kind of a fuzzy picture, but you get the idea! That’s what happens when no one is around to take your picture—Wally left town last Saturday and won’t be back home for three weeks.

So, I read that our little baby may be able to hear me talking to him now. I feel kind of silly doing so, but I try to talk to him each night. That is when he is most active. I haven’t felt any knock out punches yet, but I do feel definite movement in there.

I’m hoping for a lot more belly growth this month and some hard hits from the youngster!

My, how time flies! It’s hard to believe that we are almost halfway through this pregnancy. We recently had an ultrasound to check all of the parts and goods on our little boy. Everything looked great! What a relief:) There is always the worry that something won’t be there or won’t be developing as it should be, but he is right on track for the estimated February 24 delivery date. He is growing strong and appears to be a healthy, little man! Here are some pics from the ultrasound and a pic of me at 19 weeks. The black shirt hides my growing belly a bit, but it is there!

My niece, Megan, turns EIGHT years old today. HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MEGAN!!!

Megan is spunky, sassy, sweet, smart, social and pretty much the most awesome eight year old I know!

She is such a well rounded girl. She has been in ballet for two years as well as baseball, excelling at both. She is my favorite shopping buddy, especially when it comes to shopping for clothes and shoes. She has a unique sense of style that fits her perfectly.

Not only did Megan turn eight today, but today was also her first day of third grade. On behalf of Megan’s birthday, her teacher declared no homework for the class that day! She is also getting baptized next Saturday which will be very special. I can hardly believe she is growing up so fast. She will always be my sweet Meggie Lou no matter how old she gets!

I saw this on someone else's blog and decided to play along. Writing it was a fun trip down memory lane!

1. Where did you and your husband meet? We worked together and knew each other for a while before we started dating.

2. How long before you kissed? I guess you could say we kissed and then started dating…oops!

3. Who kissed who first? He kissed me and I kissed back!

4. How long from the time you met until you were engaged? Well, we knew of each other for about a year before we started hanging out. We were “just friends” for about 6 months. Our official first date was in November 2002, we got engaged the following August and married in April 2004.

5. How did he propose? Pretty low key…He left me a sweet card on my kitchen table asking me to marry him. We had pretty much talked about it for a month or so before, so it wasn’t a real surprise. I still have the card today.

6. Did he pick out the ring or did you? I totally picked out my ring and then told him what he was getting me!

7. Do you still like the ring? Yes, but I would like to replace the diamond. Somehow over the years it got a small crack in it.

8. Where was your wedding and reception? We had the best wedding location ever!! It was in the Fragrance Garden at Red Butte Gardens. The perfect outdoor setting that I wanted. The reception was in the Orangerie, an all glass enclosed building inside the Gardens at Red Butte. Perfect weather, perfect day!

9. How many bridesmaids did you have and who was your maid of honor? I had three bridesmaids (Wally’s daughters) and one little flower girl (my neice). My sister was my maid of honor.

10. What color were your bridesmaid dresses? Plum

11. What was your bouquet made of? A mix of Spring flowers with calolilies.

12. Who gave you away? My dad

13. Did you cry during your wedding? No, but I’m pretty sure Wally teared up a bit

14. What style was your dress? I loved, loved, loved my dress! I don’t know how to describe the style, so here’s a pic:

15. Was your wedding kiss sweet or sexy? Short and sweet

16. Who caught your bouquet? No one, I forgot to throw it!

17. What flavor was your cake? White cake with raspberry filling…mmmmm

18. Did you smash the cake onto each other's faces or feed it to each other nicely? We fed each other nicely. Wally warned me several times before our wedding that he would not respond well to smashed cake in his face, so we both played nice.

19. What was "your song" that you danced to at your wedding? No dancing, but our “wedding song” was by Greenday, Time of Your Life.

20. What did you serve your guests to eat? My favorite part…we had a made-to-order crepe station and a cheese fountain with all kinds of things for dipping (my pick!!)

21. What did your friends do to decorate your car? They didn’t. We drove away in a clean car.

22. What was your favorite wedding gift? I don’t think I have a favorite wedding gift, but we were so surprised when we showed up to the Anniversary Inn on our wedding night and the room had been paid for by one of Wally’s good friends. That was pretty cool.

23. What was the worst wedding gift you got? We really didn’t get any bad gifts. We are still using a lot of them today!

24. Where did you go on your honeymoon? We spent a few days going to amusement parks in Florida before taking a cruise to the Bahamas. Other than me turning into a rock lobster from all of the sun exposure on my translucent skin, we had SO MUCH FUN!!

25. Looking back, is there anything you would have changed about your wedding? Not one thing. It truly was a perfect day!

Wally and I are excited to announce that we are expecting our first child together! Thrilled, ecstatic, overjoyed, amazed, grateful, and overall on cloud 9 are just a few of the emotions we have been feeling over the past three months. It has been a long walk on the fertility road to get us to where we are today. We are so thankful for the expertise and knowledge out there that make it possible for couples with challenges to still be able to conceive. How lucky we are for that and for our extremely supportive family who were a HUGE part in getting us to this point. We cannot ever thank them enough!!

So, I am just out of my first trimester and very happy to be! It was kind of a stressful time period, but I’ve been so lucky to only have some brief stints of nausea and mild headaches. Oh, and wanting to sleep 24 hours a day! Other than that, I’m feeling good and anxiously awaiting a growing belly.

These pics were from an ultrasound about a month ago, so a little out-of-date but the most recent ones that we have. We think he/she resembled a gummy bear at the time with the little nubs for arms and legs. Of course, we think it’s the cutest gummy bear ever! We’re hoping our little guy/girl resembles something a bit more human these days:)

He was able to see the football stadium where all of the unfortunate losses took place last year and he got a pretty good picture of the St. Louis Arch. We have had a busy weekend! Wally was able to have some hometime over the holiday weekend, which has been great!! We made a Costco trip on Saturday followed by UFC fight night, had a bbq at his mom's on Sunday, went out to lunch and up to Red Butte Gardens on Monday, visited with more family on Tuesday, and somewhere in between he saw quite a few of his friends and spent some much needed couch time in front of the tv. Whew! It's always a whirlwind when he comes home as we are always trying to fit in everything in only a few days of time. Here are some pics from the weekend.

Wally turns forty-eight years young today. I say 'young' because he truly is a kid at heart! He has a youthful attitude and enthusiasm for life. He had the challenge of starting a new job this year, a job that was completely different than anything he has done in the recent past. I am so proud of him for stepping up to the plate, taking on this new and sometimes frustrating adventure, and still maintaining his Wally-like attitude. It has been a difficult year so far with him on the road as much as he is, but he puts everything he has into this job and more. We will be grateful when he is able to find something closer to home (and by that I mean closer to me!) I love and appreciate him for the sweet husband that he is!! He is so thoughtful and kind to me even when I am not. He is positive, outgoing, and a great friend to all of his buddies. He is a sweet son who adores his mother and his family. I found this picture on the website for Megan's baseball team, the Mariners--so cute! She is the only girl on her team (center of picture). She holds her own and then some!! She has already hit a home run this season, plus, she looks darn cute in her uniform--double threat!
