Easter Weekend

We had an action-packed, fun-filled Easter weekend. My niece, Megan (Carson’s very favorite person), stayed over for a girl’s night on Friday. I dropped my phone in the toilet before the we could even start, so we spent most of the evening at the AT&T store getting me a new phone and trying to save my contacts and pictures (nothing survived the toilet bath!). We did manage to paint each other’s nails and do each other’s hair before crashing for the night. We’ll have to do a make-up girl’s night sometime soon!

Carson LOVED having Megan stay overnight! He was so happy to wake up Saturday morning to see that she was still there. Megan is so cute with him, too.

We went to Thanksgiving Point for an Easter egg hunt. Very crowded, but a fun time. We then went up to This is the Place Heritage Park for opening day of baby animal season. We got to hold baby chicks and bunnies, baby lambs were wondering about, and they had a little teacup pig—so cute! The kids also got to ride a pony and did a few Easter crafts. We finished off the weekend going to Easter brunch on Sunday.

Happy 1st Birthday Sweet Boy!!

My sweet baby boy is ONE YEAR OLD!! How did this happen? Where did the last year go? I swear, I was just at the hospital getting ready to deliver him and now he is walking and talking and running our entire world! This kid is pure joy! He has such a pleasant disposition and a smile that melts my heart. I remember life without him, dreaming about having a child of my own, but I can’t imagine life without him now. This first year of his life has been a whirlwind of changes, surprises, expectations, happiness, tears, laughter, hugs, kisses and most of all lots of love. We couldn’t love this little boy any more if we tried! I wish I could rewind the clock and experience it all over again. The journey to getting pregnant, the pregnancy itself, the birth and everything that followed. I will forever be grateful to all of those who helped me on my path to becoming a mother. What a blessing it has been!

Even though he is a year old and looks so much like a little boy now, I still call him my baby. He will be 18 and moving out of the house and he will still be my baby. Carson is mastering the skill of walking on his own. He was a very cautious little boy when it came to letting go of my finger and going at it alone. He would rather have sat down and crawled than ran the risk of walking and falling. Now that he’s an official “walker”, watch out! He throws caution to the wind and just goes for it. My luck, he will be jumping head first out of trees by age two!

Some of his favorite things right now are lights and wall switches of any kind, tags, his cousin, Megan, our kitty, books, and his bath. He is a very good eater. He will try any food at least once and he likes most of what he tries. He loves to share string cheese with mommy. He is very interested in whatever daddy is drinking or eating. He surprised me the other day by loving bits of tomato out of my salsa bowl. He is definitely fonder of the food we are eating than the baby food in jars from the store.

Carson is very lucky in that he gets to spend time with each of his grandparents, his aunt, and his cousins every week. They are my sweet family who take care of my sweet boy while I am away at work. I don’t know what I would do without them! He is so well cared for and loved by all of them.

This little boy has rocked our world and we love it! I can hardly wait to see what year two brings!
